SHOW ME THE MONEY
Chris Bretz is happy to “Show You The Money” by fanning his winnings from the Seville sponsored 2023 Hole-In-One contest. Chris made the only hole-in-one during the Seville Shootout on Hole #10. He won $3800 for that single stroke. But he brought home a bit less as I understand that he was a very gracious host at the Grove after the contest. Nice job Chris!
2021 Match Play Results
Congratulations to the 2021 SMGA Match Play Winners. A year’s worth of hard-fought matches to get to the top of one of the eight different brackets. We hope all enjoyed the competition and camaraderie and have signed up for at least one of the nine different 2022 SMGA Match Play brackets.
2021 Player of the Year Tournament Winner
Congratulations to John Hornacek for winning our 2021 Player of the Year Tournament. The top 40 SMGA Saturday Event point leaders competed in this 2-day tournament with John finishing the tournament in first place with a net 140, or 4 under par.
Omar Daal finished one stroke back for second place and third place went to Matt Walsh.
Congratulations to all who qualified and played. It was a great tournament with perfect weather and course conditions.
2021 SMGA Saturday Points Leader and Ironman Awards
In a culmination of a year’s worth of Saturday golfing, Scott Pruneau won the SMGA’s 2021 “Points Leader” award with a commanding 2500-point lead over second place finisher Eric Wagner.
Bill Linck won the 2021 SMGA’s “Ironman” award for competing in the most events. For the first time in the Ironman award history, there was a tie for the Ironman position. Bill Linck tied with Jim Cole on the most events played. Bill came out on top with the tie breaker being the lowest average net score for the year.
Congratulations to all that competed. We had 188 different players compete this year in the SMGA Saturday Golf Events with 2044 rounds of golf.
2021 MEN’S MATCH PLAY BRACKET UPDATE 3-16-2921
Attached is the 2021 Men’s Match Play bracket update as of 3-16-2021. Over 110 matches have been completed so far. Check out your status and be sure to make your playing schedule as the next deadline for many of the brackets is 4-25-2021. We have had several forfeits/coin flips so don’t wait till the last week to set up your match.
2021 Seville Shootout
Congratulations for Holes-in-One during the 2021 Seville Shootout to both Michael Wysner (Hole # 10) and Jim Pepping (Hole #9). Each pulled in $1520 for their efforts as there were 76 competitors in the tournament. Nice to see a couple of smiling faces around the club.
2020 Player of the Year – Mark Ewing
Congratulations to Mark Ewing for winning our 2020 Player of the Year (POTY). Mark, who just made the cut to get into the tournament, played as a +1 and shot 6 under gross (4 under net) over the 2 day tournament! Great shooting Mark.
Runners up were Carl Wilson in second place, and Gerald Kitchens in third.
Congratulations to all, and we look forward to seeing you back in the 2021 season.

2020 Player of the Year Points and Iron Man
Congratulations to Jim Cole and Carl Wilson in the 2020 Player of the Year (POTY) tournament.
Jim takes the POTY points total, and Carl is the “Iron Man” with the most events played.
Great work guys, and good luck in the final POTY tournament this weekend!
2019 Seville Mens Golf Association Player of the Year
