Match play continues to move forward as we head toward the conclusion of the 2020 season. We have only 30 matches to complete out of the 225 matches from which we started the year. We need to have the matches pick backup in November after the greens fill in and their speed increases. Please check out the attached PDF file to check your status.

The signup for the 2021 Match Play season has begun. Rules have been posted on the Men’s locker bulletin boards as well as an email issued to the SMGA active field of players. The rules are also listed below in the attached file. Signup by contacting one of the Match Play Committee members listed below or through an email to SevilleMGA@gmail.com

Attached is a PDF file of the current standings on the 2020 Match Play.
Other than the Gross 4 Ball bracket, all other brackets are at least 80% complete at this time. We had a total of 213 matches to play and have played 175 of those matches leaving only 38 more to be played.  And the year is not quite half over.  Great job in scheduling those matches.
A special thanks to Bob Jones for setting up and updating the brackets regularly as the results come in by email.  That is a lot of volunteer work by Bob so others can enjoy the games.

Even though we have relaxed the deadlines due to the virus situation, it looks like the matches might actually be moving forward faster than last year.  We have only 44 active players left out of the original 109 from which we started.  Must be the free time most players seem to have.

Keep up the good work on the social distancing and keep the matches coming in.

Since the Hideaway is currently closed, make sure you send your results by email to one of the Match Play Committee members and post your scores.  Remember to take a net par on any holes after the match is completed.

Gentlemen

The SMGA Board and Match Play Committee have decided to update the deadlines for the next two rounds of match play due to limited weekend dates for match play (Club Championship, La Conquistador and Monte Mayor) over the next several weeks. We appreciate everyone that have completed their matches in a timely manner and want to make sure that sufficient time is provided to complete all matches without having to resort to a coin flip. The SMGA Board has been analyzing the number of matches to be played and the available dates and working to provide a more realistic time frame to complete all matches.  We are also making notes and developing systems to provide a better matrix for next year as well. Again, thank you to those that have completed their matches. 

Please see the revised brackets attached with updated match deadlines in red. This will also be available in the hideaway in the match play notebook.

Also, please remember to leave scorecards for all matches in the notebook in the hideaway and please post your own scores. Remember, once the match is completed, all remaining holes are recorded as net par for posting purposes.

We have also attached for your convenience the spreadsheet that can be used to calculate the proper handicaps for 4 Ball matches that considers the tees played, the 12 stroke limit and the 95 % allowance.

On behalf of the 2020 Match Play committee, please see the attached brackets updated as of 2-2-2020. A total of 55 matches were completed by 2-2 with only one forfeit.

A lot of matches to be completed in a short time with tee times at a premium, so please get to scheduling those matches! We definitely want to avoid any coin flips and deadlines will not be extended.
