Friday afternoon saw 32 players compete in a double-elimination, match-play putting contest on the Seville practice putting green.  There were nine holes on the winner&#8217;s bracket side of the green and five holes on the loser&#8217;s bracket side of the green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Congratulations to the 1st place winner Mike Welton, and the 2nd place winner Mike Grassel.  Mike Welton worked his way through most of the winner&#8217;s bracket before getting beat in round 4 by Mike Grassel.  Welton then proceeded to win his way back through the loser&#8217;s bracket and come back to beat Mike Grassel twice (the winner of the winner&#8217;s bracket) for the championship title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">1st Place Mike Welton $400<br>2nd Place Mike Grassel $250<br>3rd Place Kevin Lawrence $110<br>4th Place Jerry Coady $90<br>5th\/6th Place Frank Merlo $70<br>5th\/6th Place Tim Pokorney $70<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everyone seemed to enjoy the outing and the beer, so the SMGA will consider making this a quarterly event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>4-29-2022 &#8220;Can&#8217;t believe I three-putted one hole.&#8221; That seemed like the common statement coming from the losers of the 1st SMGA Match Play Putting Contest.
